I agree whole-hardly. Our site www.landincorporated.com. for land and rural homes listings charges $24.95 per month for unlimited ads that are visible worldwide. I am also a Realtor and a local ad in the newspaper in town of about 150,000 is around $75 for one Sunday with only three lines. Yes you may find the local buyer on the local ad but these days most real estate shopping is on the net as you get photos and so much more information to evaluate with.

From what I know, agents have known for a long time that newspaper advertising is the worst ROI in their marketing mix. However, to retain the packaging of a "comprehensive marketing program" for the property owner, having a newspaper ad was a "necessary evil" - a checklist item they felt they could not delete.
Any comments on whether this reality gap (consumer perception vs. ad performance) is fading sufficiently for agents to be comfortable excluding the newspaper listings?
